Why a catalytic converter?
The platinum coated catalytic burner works with a thermal efficiency of over 99%. It produces CO2 enriched air that is ideal for the greenhouse. With atmospheric burners, combustion is not quite so complete as with catalytic converters.
Because they draw in the greenhouse air that has bad waste gases added to it, if there is incomplete combustion then toxic carbon monoxide (CO) is easily produced. This risk is eliminated with the catalytic burner.
Why thermostatic control with zero cut-off?
The zero cut-off (with automatic reset) is of great importance for energy-saving. Other thermostatically controlled catalytic heaters have only two settings: maximum and minimum. This means the heaters are always working to at least 60% of their capacity.
With out Black Forest Heaters, a thermostat is built-in. When the temperature that you have set is reached, the valve cuts off the gas supply. However, the pilot light continues to burn, and as the greenhouse temperature drops, the system switches back on automatically.
The combination of the catalytic burner and temperature regulator with zero cut-off results in energy savings approx 25%.
A special feature of Black Forest Heaters is also a temperature control range that is appropriate for green-house, from +2°C (frost protection) to +25°C (maximum temperature for good growth). Other catalytic heaters have a temperature range of +13°C to 32°C which is too hot for greenhouses.
Black Forest Heaters are not suitable for growing orchids.
