Smooth, dark red skin and tender flesh. Produces baby beets or full sized beetroots. Ideal for baking, pickling, or grating raw into salads.
Sowing Instructions
March to July, in well prepared soil in a sunny spot. Sow thinly 13mm deep in drills 30cm apart.
Growing Instructions
Thin to 2.5cm for baby beets or to 5 - 7cm for larger roots. Keep well watered during dry spells to avoid bolting (running to seed) or woody roots.
Harvesting Instructions
From June to October, from golf ball size, when roots are tender and sweet. Roots from later sowings can be lifted in autumn, leaves twisted off and stored in trays of dry sand or compost in the shed or garage.
