Product Information
Kale is extremely hardy and easy to grow, producing nutritious leaves which are rich in iron and vitamins A, C & E. Best used in soups and stir-fries.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors March - May. Sow seeds thinly 1cm deep in trays of moist compost, be careful not to over-water. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to 6" (15cm) apart. When the plants are 10-15cm high transplant outside after all frosts have passed leaving 18" (45cm) between plants.
Sow outdoors April - June. Sow seeds 1.5cm deep direct in growing bed in rows 6" (15cm) apart. Keep the soil moist and be careful not to over-water. When large enough to handle thin to 18" (45cm) apart.
Growing Instructions
Pick the leaves when they are young and tender, by removing a few at a time starting at the crown of the plant. Pick off the yellow leaves and ensure the area is kept weed free.
Harvesting Instructions
September - December.
