What a great machine! Very light and easy to use although I dont know how I am going to get rid of all the moss. Only down side is the frequency of emptying the box, but that could be down to the condition of my lawn rather than any thing else.

Probably works really well on a dry lawn. Under “How to Use”, the manual says “Do not use in wet or damp conditions. Raking in wet conditions can damage the lawn”. And in the Safety section it says “Avoid operating your product in wet grass, where feasible.” What it does not explicitly say is that this machine is quickly blocked up by any wet moss, and has no safety cut-out should it overload! I took delivery of mine in November. My small lawn was damp, very mossy, and in urgent need of scarifying. I’d cut it very short the day before and given it a fine day to air: it was as dry as it was likely to be before May, so I went ahead. On getting to work, it soon began to give off a smokey burning smell. It happened so quickly I couldn’t believe it, and looked elsewhere for something burning! Once aware of the situation, I was able to continue by cleaning damp moss from around the mechanism very frequently, though it was a nuisance that the power could not be disconnected at the machine end. Flymo were great: I was able to get it checked for damage under guarantee, and, in fact, no harm had been done. Verdict: safety cut-out and disconnector have been omitted for cheapness, and shouldn’t have been.
