A Snug Hedgehouse House

Once your hedgehog house is in place its best to cover the flooring with a mix of soil, leaves and straw, this will make a snug home for any homeless hedgehog. Loss of natural habitat is one of the biggest threats to hedgehogs in the UK and these homes will proved the perfect place to hibernate over winter. By covering the house with a dome of leaves, dried grass and twigs you will provide the hedgehog with additional protection from the harsh winter weather.

Hibernation

Hedgehogs usually avoid the coldest months of the year by hibernating, this usually occurs between November and April, but as the climate changes in the UK so is the hibernation pattern of the hedgehog.

Feeding Your Hedgehog

It's important that your hedgehog is at its ideal weight when it goes into hibernation. It should be around 600gms and never below 450gms. This is why with every hedgehog house sold at garden4less.co.uk we supply you with high energy hedgehog feed. Feed should be put out daily and preferably in the evening.

This sturdy hedgehog house has an extendable predator defence tunnel at the entrance that provides suitable protection from all natural predators. It also has no base and is ideal for covering so will provide a natural and safe habitat for hedgehogs.

This Hedgehog House is designed to be an attractive natural home and safe retreat for hedgehogs. It features a sturdy, rust-proofed steel frame, a waterproofed roof with an attractive natural finish, and a predator defence tunnel.

Chavenage Bat Box - CBB.

This natural and attractive Bat Box will fit into any garden, woodland or house wall site. It is made from high quality durable timber providing logevity and excellent insulation. Bats need Habitat as many of their roosts have been lost over recent years. The narrow entrance slot and strong timber help to discourage predators. New building may require the provision of bat boxes/roosts.

Frog/Toad House - F/TH.

The Frog and Toad House is constructed from FSC Cedar/Oak/Alder with Hazel and includes an internal roof tile and twin chambers.

Larch/Oak/Acacia Bat Box - OBB.

This oak/larch double chambered box provides habitat for many bats. The heavy construction provides good insulation and longevity, as well as preventing predators from chewing the entrance slot. There is an access ladder and hinged front door providing access for inspection and cleaning. Bat boxes should be sited 2.5 to 5 mtrs high Bats may change direction of roost preferred, dependant on weather conditions and season. Ideally three boxes should be fixed on a tree facing north, or south to south east.

Hedgehog Feed.

This hedgehog feed has been blended to supplement a hedgehog's natural diet and includes added extras such as proteins and minerals, to ensure that hedgehogs get their vital nutrients. The crunchy bites in this feed help keep a hedgehogs teeth sharp.

Serve daily preferably in the evenings.
