Product Information
Thin waxy fruits ripen from light greeny yellow to red but are actually best eaten before they fully ripen to release distinctive citrus flavours that 'Aji' peppers are known for. Left to fully ripen they become too hot for the citrus flavour to linger on the palate. These productive plants originate from Chile and are used to make a type of salsa which is widely used in the local cuisine.
Sowing Instructions
For greenhouse crops. Sow indoors, February to April. A warm kitchen windowsill is all you need to for starting these seeds. Sow 0.5cm (0.25") deep, thinly in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20 degrees C (60-68 degrees F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Transplant to individual pots when large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out to large pots, growing bags or greenhouse border.
Plants can be grown outdoors in a warm, sunny, sheltered location. Crops will be smaller and later than those in the greenhouse which will give the best results. Supply support if necessary.
