Product Information
Neither asparagus nor a pea but it does have pods which are eaten like a 'mangetout' pea and does have a taste reminiscent of asparagus! Easy to grow producing numerous winged pods which should be picked at about 2.5cm (1in) long and steamed or sauteed whole.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, April to June. Thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Delay sowing if soil is still cold. Allow 30cm (12") between rows. Seedlings usually appear within 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 45cm (18") apart. Water well until plants are established. 2 or 3 sowings will provide a successional crop. Provide cloche protection or delay sowing if soil is cold.
