Product Information
This giant German pointed cabbage has long been used for shredding to make classic sauerkraut and delicious coleslaws. A full sized cabbage can weigh 4.5kg (10lbs). However at closer spacing it will produce great 'family sized' cabbages.
Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors, March to July. Thinly in a seed bed, 1.5cm (0.5") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Water well until plants are established. Transplant 60cm (2ft) apart when plants are about 10cm (4") tall. Allow 60cm (2ft) between plants. Plant firmly and water well.
Sow indoors, February to April. 0.5cm (0.25") deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and keep in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse. Keep moist. Transplant 5cm (2") apart to other trays when large enough to handle. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions before planting out 60cm (2ft) apart. For smaller cabbages reduce spacing to 40cm (16") apart.
