Product Information
Versatile leaves can be used in spinach, in salads or stir fries. Quick, easy to grow and slow to bolt it is highly suitable for containers and can also be grown under cover in autumn and winter for almost year round cropping.
Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors, February to August. Thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered for sowings from March to September. Allow 30cm (12") between rows. Seedlings usually appear within 7-21 days. Keep moist. Harvest unthinned as baby leaves for salads. Or, thin out to 10cm (4") apart for 'teen' leaves to use like spinach, or thin to 20cm (8") for mature plants which can be stir-fried or steamed.
Sow indoors, October to March, to grow in a tunnel or greenhouse. Sow into cells trays of compost in gentle warmth. Transplant to borders or large pots when approx 7.5cm (3") tall. Keep moist.
