Product Information
An Italian heirloom variety with large oval fruits up to 20cm (8in) long. The skin is a striking mix of purple and white stripes, whilst its flesh is firm and well flavoured.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, January to April. A warm kitchen windowsill is all you need to for starting these seeds. Sow 0.5cm (0.25") deep, thinly in a tray or pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Transplant to individual pots when large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out to large pots, growing bags or greenhouse border. Provide support with canes if necessary. Plants can be grown outdoors in a warm, sunny, sheltered location, plant out from June. However, outdoor crops will be smaller and later.
