Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors, March to September. Thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Delay sowing if soil is still cold. Allow 30cm (12") between rows. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear within 14-21 days. Water well and ensure soil remains moist to prevent plants running to seed. Harvest unthinned as baby leaves. Take a few leaves from each plant allowing them to regrow for 2 or 3 more pickings. Or, thin to 15cm (10") apart to produce more mature leaves. Regular sowings made every 2 to 3 weeks will ensure a continuous supply.
