Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, April to May. For surest results, 1.5cm (0.5") deep, on edge, in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20 degrees C (60-68 degrees F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 120cm (4ft) apart, when frosts are over.
Sow outdoors in May. For ease, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (0.5") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Allow 120cm (4ft) between sowing positions. Sow 2 seeds on edge per position. Early sowings benefit from cloche protection. Thin to leave the stronger plant. Water well until plants are established. Pinch out growing tip when 4-6 fruits have formed.
