Product Description

This cultivar arose at the Guinness estate in Ireland, next to Daphne Shackleton's garden, who gave its seed to the National Plant Collection of Aquilegia. Dramatic, for late spring to early summer borders.

Sowing Instructions

Sow indoors, February to June, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, cover with 0.5cm (0.25") of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Pace in a cold frame or cool greenhouse. Seedlings appear in 21-42 days.
Sow outdoors, April to June, in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 30cm (12") apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.

Care Instructions

For indoor sowing, when large enough transplant singly to 7.5cm (3") pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions. Transplant 30cm (12") apart in flowering position from summer onwards.
For outdoor sowing, when large enough thin to 5cm (2") apart. Transplant 30cm (12") apart in flowering position in September to October.
