Product Information
Very popular flavouring in Asian and Mexican dishes or simply added to a salad. This versatile herb has large fragrant leaves and is slow to run to seed.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, All year round for pots indoors. In pots of moist compost. Sow thinly, cover lightly with compost. Firm gently. Cover with clear glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at 15-20 degrees C (60-68F) and keep moist.
Sow outdoors, April to June, in a prepared seed bed in the growing position. Sow thinly, in rows 20cm (8") apart. Cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care Instructions
For indoor sowing, remove cover once seedlings appear. Thin plants if necessary.
For outdoor sowing, when seedlings are large enough thin to 20cm (8") apart.
Harvesting Instructions
All year round once plants are approx 15cm (6") tall for indoor sowing, and June to October for outdoor sowing. Pick a few leaves at a time from each plant allowing them to regrow more quickly.
