Product Information
A traditional German sauerkraut variety. The thin and tender leaves are just perfect for shredding in salads and coleslaw too. Large pointed heads can weigh up to 4.5kg/10lbs.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, February to April, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly and cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover trays with glass, polythene or propagator lid and keep at approx 10-15 degrees C (50-60 degrees F).
Sow outdoors, March to June, in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 23cm (9") apart. Cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Instructions
For indoor sowing, remove cover once seedlings appear. Transplant 5cm (2") apart to further trays when large enough to handle. Stand outside for a few days from April (avoid frosts) then plant out to growing position, spacing 60cm (2ft) apart. Closer spacing will produce smaller cabbages.
For outdoor sowing, transplant to growing position when seedlings are 8-10cm (3-4") tall, allowing 60cm (2ft) between rows and plants. Closer spacing will produce smaller cabbages. Firm in and water well. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvesting Instructions
