Product Information
Vigorous plants with large, semi-rounded leaves in loose rosettes. They have a soft texture and a delicate, distinctive flavour, generally eaten in salads and as a tasty substitute to spinach.
Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors, April to August, in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 20cm (8") apart. Cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care Instructions
When large enough thin out to 10cm (4") apart for mature leaves or 5cm (2") apart for baby leaves. Baby leaf crops can also be sown in patio pots. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvesting Instructions
May to October, into winter with cloche protection. For 'baby' leaves, pick a few leaves as required from each plant, they will regrow for 3-4 cuts. Pick whole plants from June onwards. Can also be sown as winter crops in pots, trays or the greenhouse border from September to January and harvest as required from November onwards.
