Product Information
Easy to grow. Large, white roots with wonderful piquant flavour, similar to celery. Stores well after harvesting for winter use. A versatile vegetable for mash, soups, stews or grated raw in salads.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, March to April. In trays of seed compost, sow thinly and cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover trays eith glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx 15-20 degrees C (60-68 degrees F).
Care Instructions
Remove cover when seedlings appear. Transplant seedlings 5cm (2") apart in trays. Grow on at approx 10-15 degrees C (50-60 degrees F). Plant out to growing position in June spacing 25cm (10") apart. Remove outer leaves as the roots develop and swell.
Harvesting Instructions
August to December. Roots can be stored for several months in a cool, dry, airy location.
