Product Information
Unusual, very dark wrinkled leaves. Easy to grow and delicious as baby leaves for salads or left for very winter hardy mature plants. Versatile and nutritious, can be used both raw and cooked.
Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors, April to June for mature plants, April to September for baby leaves. In a prepared seed bed for mature plants. For baby leaf they can be sown where they are to crop. Sow thinly in rows 30cm (12") apart. Cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care Instructions
For mature plants, once 5-6 leaves have formed, transplant to final position, spacing 45cm (18") between plants and 60cm (2ft) between rows. Firm plants in well. For 'cut and come again' baby leaves, thin to only 10cm (4") apart. Cut as required, a few leaves from each plant. Leaves then regrow for up to 4 cuts.
Harvesting Instructions
June to December for baby leaf or September to March for mature plants.
