Product Information
A high quality long season variety that develops long spears with deep purple heads and succulent stems. One of the earliest to crop, it is at its most delicious from November onwards.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, March to May, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx 13 degrees C (55 degrees F).
Sow outdoors, April to June, in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 25cm (10") apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm (0.5") of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Instructions
For indoor sowing, remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm (2") apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days in late May (avoid frosts). Transplant in June to final position with 60cm (2ft) between plants and rows.
For outdoor sowing, when approx 10cm (4") tall, transplant to final position with 60cm (2ft) between plants and rows. Firm plants in well. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvesting Instructions
September to March. Cut shoots when 15cm (6") long. Pick regularly to encourage further cropping.
