Product Information
Intriguing, attractive fruits with tasty, firm sweet flesh are produced in good numbers on vigorous plants. Can be used in pies, soups, roasted or mashed. This heirloom variety is also great for autumn decoration.
Sowing Instructions
Sow indoors, April to May. In small pots of moist compost. Sow singularly into a pot edgeways into the compost. Cover with 1.5cm (0.5") of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx, 15-20 degrees C (60-68 degrees F). Seedlings appear after 7-21 days.
Sow outdoors in May. In a prepared seed bed. Sow seeds edgeways 90cm (3ft) apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist.
Care Instructions
For indoor sowing remove cover when seedlings appear. At 5-6 leaf stage, stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Transplant 90cm (3ft) in growing position. Keep moist and weed free.
For outdoor sowing. When large enough thin to 1 seedling per position. Keep moist and weed free.
Harvesting Instructions
September to October. For indoor sowing harvest before first frosts. Will store for many weeks in a cool, dry, frost free location.
