Product Description

Designed to simply hook on or be attached to the side or end of greenhouse benches or shelves, this Automatic Water Reservoir will make watering easier when used with capillary matting (not included).

The reservoir comes complete with fittings to enable you to connect it to ½" hosepipe (which could be connected to a water butt or an outside tap) and fittings to accept ¼" tube in case you wanted to supply water via a Big Dripper Bag or other tank.

Within the reservoir is a torbeck control valve which stops and starts water flow to maintain a constant level of water within the reservoir. In this way you just need to make sure that water is available at the source (such as within a water butt) and your plants will 'water themselves'. They do this by drawing water along your capillary matting as they need it - when the compost starts to dry out it draws water up from the matting and the matting, in turn draws water from the reservoir.

Each Automatic Water Reservoir consists of :
A plastic pot - the 'reservoir' - approximately 12cm x 17cm x 13cm deep
A metal fastening bracket - to prevent the reservoir from tipping when full
A Torbeck control ball valve - this operates a little bit like a toilet cistern, letting water into the reservoir as it empties but prevents it form overflowing
Fixings to attach the reservoir to either ½" or ¼" hose - hose not included. This enables you to bring water from an outside tap, water butt, water tank or reservoir bag to ensure the Reservoir remains full with water
An aluminium lid - which slides over the top of the reservoir to reduce algae growth
A capillary wick - used to draw the water from the reservoir onto your existing capillary matting
