Air pots allow plant roots to grow outwards, instead of spiralling round themselves inside the pot. This has massive benefits, and the results will be stronger, healthier and well-nourished plants.

And, because the plant's lateral roots will have been allowed to grow more naturally and vigorously, transplantation is much more successful. This 5-litre size is ideal for potting on young plants and growing shrubs and trees. Measures 26cm high x 20cm diameter when assembled. Base is placed 6cm up, for bottom air pruning, so this will affect the volume & depth.

Larger sizes make excellent containers for growing vegetables, too. Also used widely in hydroponic gardening.

Product Description

Made from 100% recycled HDPE, the Air Pots are supplied flat and include an open web-style base and clips for simple assembly. The pot can be re-used for many seasons. See larger sizes, plus many more growing items, in our dedicated kitchen garden shop.

How the Air Pot worksOn the inside of the Air Pot, inverted cones guide the growing laterial (side) roots towards the external cones, each of which has a hole at the end.
The tips of the roots dehydrate in open air, and so they are 'air pruned'. The plant responds to this by sending out more roots.
This process repeats itself all the time the plant is in the pot, and it develops a remarkable radial root system. No other container can help a plant develop in this way.
