LG Sanctuary vs Supremo Belfort

  • Post created by: Matt Elsden

Creating a proper outdoor room is one of the best ways to get more usable space from your garden. Below I compare three popular aluminium louvred-roof pergolas - the LG Sanctuary, Supremo Belfort and Kettler Signature - plus a short note on Harbour Lifestyle options, to help you choose by look, weatherproofing and long-term practicality.

Quick Overview

  • LG Sanctuary: wood-effect aluminium finish, adjustable louvred roof, LEDs and lots of modular add-ons - great if you want a timber look with low maintenance.
  • Supremo Belfort: pitched as a luxury, near-waterproof package with integrated guttering, LED lighting and curtains - best if you want a turnkey, weather-sealed room.
  • Kettler Signature: minimalist, engineered system with discreet built-in drainage channels that route water through beams into hollow legs - excellent if you value clever engineering and a contemporary aesthetic.

The Sanctuary uses powder-coated aluminium with a heat-transfer wood-effect finish, giving genuine timber looks without the maintenance of real wood - a good compromise for a warm aesthetic that stays low-care. Many retailers list remote-controlled integrated LED lighting and a 3.2 m mains cable as standard on popular sizes.

Supremo’s Belfort sits a touch more upmarket in its marketing: aluminium construction with a focus on a premium finish and complete accessory packages (curtains, LEDs, guttering) to create a sealed living space feel. Several dealer pages emphasise “full coverage and waterproof roofs” when the correct seals and curtains are fitted.

  • Kettler skews modern and minimalist in finish - no timber look here - and highlights thoughtful engineering: U-shaped roof channels and hidden drainage that keep the lines clean while managing heavy rain intelligently.

Roof mechanics, drainage and true weatherproofing

All three use adjustable louvres, but the real difference is how they handle water and wind:

  • Sanctuary: effective shade control via adjustable slats; rain protection can be very good once you add the recommended side panels or blinds, but it’s a configuration-dependent solution rather than an out-of-the-box sealed room.
  • Belfort: sold as a near-waterproof option when paired with its seals/curtains - integrated guttering and dealer bundles are explicitly promoted for year-round use. If you want a pergola that behaves like a room in rainy conditions, this is the one to inspect closely.
  • Kettler: water is channelled into the framework and down hollow posts - a clean engineering approach that reduces standing water and keeps the structure neat without external gutters. Ideal for exposed UK gardens.

If ultimate waterproofing is your priority, favour systems sold with documented “edge-to-edge” seals and curtain packages (Belfort is promoted this way). If you prefer to start with a stylish shelter and add extras later, Sanctuary’s modular ecosystem is more flexible.

Electrics, lighting & accessories

Sanctuary and Belfort commonly advertise integrated LED lighting as part of popular packages; Belfort dealer bundles often include curtains and LED strips as standard. Kettler supports modular electrics and screens but tends to leave the lighting choices to dealer packages or add-ons — check what each local dealer includes in the quoted price.

Price, availability & warranties

Expect wide price variation depending on size and specification. Sanctuary 3×3/3×4 basic offerings start in the lower thousands, with full BBQ/pergola bundles or fitted packages reaching higher tiers. Belfort packages often sit mid-to-high, reflecting their turnkey positioning. Kettler is premium and engineering-led; obtain local quotes to compare apples-to-apples on installation and electrics.

Who should buy which?

  • Choose LG Sanctuary if you want a warm timber look, easy maintenance and the flexibility to add walls, sliding panels or a BBQ module later.
  • Choose Supremo Belfort if you want a packaged, near-waterproof outdoor room with integrated lighting and curtains from day one.
  • Choose Kettler Signature if minimalist design, integrated drainage and engineering elegance matter more than a timber finish.
