It's easy to grow herbs from seed with our Naked Herbs kit.
1) Push the seeds into the compost seed starter discs.
2) 2-3 weeks later place the discs into the hairy pots and add soil.
3) 2-3 weeks later drop the hairy pots into the rice pots and add soil.
4) 3 weeks later you can start using your herbs.
The clever bit is that the starter discs and hairy pots are made from coconut fibre, so the roots grow through the sides of them and into the soil in the larger pots!
-Complete kit - just add soil and water.
-Simple - no seedling transplanting to worry about, which is where things usually go wrong. Full step-by-step guide.
- Healthier plants - because the roots don't get disturbed when moving from a small pot to a large pot the roots are healthier and the plants grow more quickly
About the contents
9 x seed starting discs and 6 x Hairy Seedling Pots
The seed starter discs and hairy pots are made from the fibre of coconut shells. The pots are certified as fair trade and are handmade by a women's co-operative in Sri Lanka, providing valuable employment, they are sent to us on ships already scheduled to travel to England.
3 x Rice Pots
The large pots are made from the inedible shells of rice and other cereals, they are a natural byproduct of agriculture. After using them for 2 or 3 years put them into the green waste bin where they will biodegrade without detrimental effect to the environment.
3 x Plant Labels
The slate-look plant labels are made in Cornwall from plastic vending machine cups, which can't be recycled by most local authorities. Each plant label is made from 10 plastic cups which would otherwise have gone to landfill, so each kit saves 30 cups from landfill!
